Duane has been a Register Social Worker since 1975. Over the years he earned 2 Bachelors’ degrees in Arts and Social Work and a Master of Science, Administration degree.
He has worked most of his career with Mental Health & Addiction Services in Regina, Swift Current, Saskatoon, Humboldt, and Weyburn. Before his management work in Weyburn, his skills were in Individual and Family Therapy, Dispute Resolution and Community Development.
He initially agreed to move to Weyburn in 1988 and work for at least 2 years; originally as the Director of Social Work, (later Director of Community Mental Health Services). Also of interest, he was administratively responsible for overseeing Paediatric Speech Language Pathology Services for the region since approximately 1998.
During his work life, and increasing in retirement, Duane is active in Community Development work: he is a Director of the local United Way, and the Weyburn Group Home Society; he is the Co-Chair of Sun Country Health Region Patient/Family Advisory Council and is an active member of the provincial Health Quality Council’s Patient Family Centered Care Guiding Coalition. He is also a 26 -year member of the Rotary Club of Weyburn; in the past serving 2 separate terms as Club President and a 3year term as the Assistant Governor.
Duane and his wife/partner Lorrie, (a soon-retiring Registered Psychiatric Nurse) head a blended family of 2 adult sons and 2 adult daughters. They have travelled many parts of the world and anticipate doing more.
